Following a powerful wind storm on July 19, municipal staff have been responding to downed trees and blocked roadways across the municipality. All municipal roadways are now cleared; however, Waterloo Street in Exeter from Main Street South to Carling Street will remain closed overnight until Hyrdo One crews can safely address power line issues.

The heads of council for the municipalities of North Huron and South Huron are deeply concerned about the OPP’s decision to close local detachment offices in their communities.
As of the end of June, 2020 the OPP has closed offices in Wingham and Exeter in favour of housing policing operations in one central location over 30 minutes away in Clinton. Neither municipality was consulted about these plans and notification was only received through informal means.
