Collaboration Leads To Community Pride

The Municipality of South Huron is recognizing the outstanding efforts of the Exeter Hawks in their playoff run. For the first time in league history, the Hawks have advanced to the PJHL Junior C Schmalz Cup Championship Semi Finals. To support this achievement, the Municipality is extending the arena ice at the South Huron Recreation Centre during playoffs.

“We’re incredibly proud of the Hawks and want them to know the municipality supports them 100 per cent!” said Mayor George Finch. “I’m also very proud to see our community rally together behind this team.”

The community is stepping forward to support the playoff schedule. For example, the South Huron Hospital Auxiliary Rummage Sale & Auction is relocating their long-standing annual event to the South Huron Recreation Centre Hall so the Hawks can use the arena.

“We always knew there was a chance they’d advance in this tournament and we’re thrilled for them!” said Linda Russell, Convener of the Auxiliary Rummage Sale. “Our event volunteers will continue to work hard to support our community, and this includes our Hawks.”

Thanks to members of the local hockey community also contributing their pre-booked arena ice time to the team, the Hawk’s home game schedule is as follows:

  • Fri Apr 5 @ 8pm
  • Tues Apr 9 @ 8pm
  • Sat Apr 13 @ 7pm

“It’s how our community partners work together that sets South Huron apart,” added Mayor Finch.

The best-of-seven semi final series begins tonight (April 4th) in Grimsby and continues at the South Huron Recreation Centre tomorrow. Visit for the full tournament details. Go Hawks Go!
