Public Notice: Enforcement of COVID-19 safety measures

Posted on Friday April 03, 2020

We are all responsible for keeping ourselves, the people around us and our communities safe from spreading the COVID-19 virus.

The Province has issued Orders (laws) under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act that:

  • Ontarians must practice physical distancing and keep two metres (6ft) away from people outside of their household
  • All organized public events of over 5 people are prohibited

The OPP have the authority to issue fines and serious penalties to anyone who violates these laws. If you have concerns about an order violation, residents are encouraged to call the Ontario Provincial Police non-emergency line (1-888-310-1122). DO NOT call 9-1-1 unless you need emergency service.

We all must prevent the spread of infection:

· Stay at home

· Self-isolate when you are unwell or returning from travels for at least 14 days—this is law!

· When you go out for essentials, maintain a physical distance of 2m between others

· Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently

· Parents, make sure kids are following your lead - no play dates!

Everyone must stay up to date on the COVID-19 situation in our region by following the information and guidance of Huron Perth Public Health at Their Health Line intake phone line (1-888-221-2133) is open Monday to Friday, 9AM-8PM and Saturday and Sunday, 9AM-4PM.
