Mayor Finch urges people to stay at home

Posted on Monday March 23, 2020

Hello Everyone,

As we continue to confront this unprecedented time of uncertainty, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your efforts to keep our communities safe.  In addition, I would like to take the time to thank our business owners who continue to provide essential services for our community. These businesses are taking reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of their staff, patrons and our community.  Please follow the parameters they have established to help us keep COVID-19 at bay!

I am hearing stories of people reaching out to their neighbours to ensure they have what they need. I am seeing our local businesses step up to serve our needs at this time. These acts of compassion make me so proud to live here and I commend you all.

If you are experiencing anxiety, depression or need assistance, please call a friend or one of the many service providers available at - no one need feel alone during this time.

Right now we must continue to follow the advice of our health care providers who need our full support. Stay home! Only go out to retrieve essential items like food, prescriptions, etc. If you do have to go out, maintain a distance of at least six feet or two metres between others.

It is vital that we all stay up to date and follow the guidance of Huron Perth Public Health.

Stay safe, stay home.

- George Finch
