Municipality of South Huron continues to implement re-opening plan as province enters Phase 3

Posted on Friday July 17, 2020

Following the guidance of the Province of Ontario and Huron Perth Public Health, the Municipality of South Huron is continuing to implement its re-opening plan.

As of noon on Friday, July 17 municipal playgrounds will re-open to the public. Please note that cleaning and disinfecting of playground surfaces will not be taking place regularly – users are advised to practise their own hand hygiene. Outdoor public washrooms where handwashing can take place are available at the Exeter Splash Pad and Victoria Park.

The public is reminded that all users of public facilities are responsible for maintaining physical distancing requirements at all times and for wearing face coverings/masks in indoors establishments.

Work continues to safely re-open other municipal services in stages

The Municipality is currently working to restore in-person services at Town Hall and to re-open community centres in the very near future. When these services resume, additional health and safety measures will be in place. In addition, the Municipality will be connecting with user groups to coordinate the re-opening of the South Huron Recreation Centre for certain activities.

Council and committee meetings

A new method of livestreaming video of Council and committee meetings is now up and running at SouthHuron.ca on the Agenda and Minutes page. Indexed video recordings now allow you to view the whole meeting or the just the particular agenda items that interests you.

Safety remains our top priority

The Municipality of South Huron’s re-opening framework is founded on the top priority of protecting the health and safety of its staff and residents. Final decisions about when to open specific facilities and restart individual services are made based on the following guiding principles:

  • Alignment with direction from the Province of Ontario and the Huron Perth Public Health Unit.
  • A gradual and phased approach to reopening.
  • Coordination with other local area municipalities, to the extent possible.
