With over 70,000 people attending the Huron Country Playhouse annually, the Municipality of South Huron recognizes the significant economic and cultural impact of the theatre on local communities. The provincial estimate of the theatre’s economic impact on visitor spending in the local area is $17.1 million annually.
“On behalf of all of Council, we are proud to be home to the Huron Country Playhouse and congratulate Drayton Entertainment on launching their 50th season there,” said Mayor George Finch. “I invite everyone to come and experience this beloved, world-class theatre right here in South Huron.”
In 2020, South Huron Council entered into a 10-year sponsorship agreement to rename the Playhouse II stage the South Huron Stage. Through a special grant, South Huron contributes $25,000 annually to the Playhouse’s parent company, Drayton Entertainment, for these naming rights and other opportunities to promote South Huron as a tourism destination to theatre goers.
