Mayor commends coordinated response of regional fire departments

On the evening of Sunday, July 9^th, and lasting until the evening of July 10^th, fire departments from the municipalities of South Huron, Bluewater, Lambton Shores, Lucan Biddulph, North Middlesex, West Perth, Huron East responded to a large farm structure fire within South Huron’s fire protection coverage area.

“I want to personally thank all of the firefighters who responded to this event,” said Mayor George Finch. “The level of professionalism of our firefighters is something all residents in our region should be proud of.”

The mutual aid system in place allows regional fire departments to respond seamlessly to calls for assistance from neighboring municipalities, whether to provide direct support on scene or to act as backup coverage for departments currently deployed.

“As we experienced with this situation, mutual aid is an efficient and effective solution to fire protection that allows municipal departments to rapidly scale up capacity when necessary,” added Finch.
