From swimming lessons to karate, dance to pickleball, South Huron offers recreational programs for all ages!

Please come into the Rec Centre office in person during regular business hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday) for registration assistance or email recreation@southhuron.ca

Karate

Rocky Pine Karate

Age appropriate programs specifically designed for children with emphasis places on traditional Martial arts values in a non-competitive and safe environment.

All classes are held at Exeter Public School Gym.

Exeter Karate

Excellent fitness and self-defense training program in karate and weapons. Suited for those 6 years to adult. Operate year round on Tuesday and Thursday.

Gymnastics

The Municipality of South Huron offers two levels of gymnastics classes. For the younger ones, ages 3-5 we offer our Kindergym Program. Classes are 45 minutes in length. The fee for an 8 week session is $85.00.

For the older children, ages 6 to 14 we offer our Gymnastics Program. Classes are 1 hour in length. The fee for an 8 week session is $90.00.

Both programs take place Saturday mornings at the South Huron District High School small gym. 


Fall Registration
will be held at the South Huron District High School on Saturday September 14th from 10:30AM to 11:30AM 

 

Fall Session Dates: 

October 19th, 26th 

November 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th 

December 7th. 

 

Winter Registration will be held at the South Huron Distract High School on Saturday November 30th from 9:00AM to noon. 

Winter Session Dates:

January 11th, 18th & 25th 

February 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th

Dance

All classes are held at the South Huron District High School and run approximately from 5:30PM to 8:00PM, depending on the age group. The sessions run for 10 Wednesdays, followed by a recital evening. 

Fall Session Dates: September 18th to November 20th, 2019. 

Spring Session Dates: March 25th to May 20th, 2020. Recital: May 27th, 2020

Pickleball

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong with holes. 

All pickleball play is a municipal-led rec activity that is coordinated in partnership with the two groups, and is inclusive to all ages and skills. 

 

Please note that we have temporarily moved Pickleball onto the arena floor.

Monday AM/Wednesday AM- Non competitive (beginners)

Tuesday AM/Thursday AM - Competitive

All sessions run from 8:00AM to 12:00PM. 

 

Be advised that enhanced safety measures are in effect as required by the Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth:

  1. Face coverings are required in the foyer. You may remove them once you are in play.
  2. Please bring your own mask.

A few other notes:

  1. Please enter through the left hand set of doors at the front of the Rec Centre.
  2. You are required to hand sanitize on the way into the facility.
  3. Please follow the lines/markers on the floor.
  4. There is no loitering before or after play.
  5. Staff will not have additional paddles to supply to players.
  6. Nets will be set up, please do not take them down.
  7. Washrooms with an entrance from the foyer area are available to the public.
  8. The arena floor will have a maximum of 45 people at any given time.
  9. The outdoor court will remain in operation Monday to Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm
  10. Please disinfect Pickleballs and chairs between uses (hand sanitizer and disinfectant will be provided)

We ask that before you enter the facility, you take an online COVID-19 assessment. You can also find more information about COVID-19 on our website or Huron Perth Public Health  

 

Stay home if you can answer yes to any of the following questions:

  1. Fever or chills
  2. Cough
  3. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  4. Fatigue
  5. Muscle or body aches
  6. Headache
  7. New loss of taste or smell
  8. Sore throat
  9. Congestion or runny nose
  10. Nausea or vomiting
  11. Diarrhea
