$89,900 OTF Grant from the Ontario Government Boosts recreation programming in South Huron

Exeter, ON – On Monday, MPP Lisa Thompson heard from the Municipality of South Huron about what’s been happening thanks to a $89,900 Seed Grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Funds from the grant were used to recruit a Recreation Coordinator earlier this year. The coordinator's focus has been to design inclusive programming, champion physical activity, maximize local facility usage, and improve overall community well-being.

"This investment is making a meaningful difference in the lives of residents across South Huron by creating more opportunities for people of all ages to get active, connect with one another and participate in their community," said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. "I'm pleased to see the Ontario Trillium Foundation's support in helping the Municipality of South Huron expand its recreation programming, and to build a stronger and more active community for everyone."

Thanks to the OTF grant, to date South Huron has introduced 34 new recreation programs attended by over 600 participants. In addition, three open-invitation community events have been hosted with over 700 individuals attending and the municipality has welcomed 16 new instructors and volunteers who have contributed to the successful delivery of these new recreation programs and events.
