The Leadership in Training (LIT) Program is designed to provide participants 12 - 15 years of age with foundational leadership skills and practical experience working with children and youth in a recreation setting.

Running on Monday evenings at the South Huron Recreation Centre, from April 20 to June 1 from 3:30pm - 5:30pm, the program includes 15.5 hours of classroom-based learning, where participants engage in interactive sessions covering key topics such as leadership styles, goal setting, effective communication, building trust, team building and cooperation, conflict resolution, and a resume writing workshop. Participants will also have the opportunity to obtain HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification, a nationally recognized standard for quality programs in children’s recreation and sport.

Following the classroom component, participants complete 15–20 hours of hands-on placement within a Municipality of South Huron child and youth recreation program.
