December 1, 2025 Council Meeting Highlights

At its Regular Meeting on December 1, 2025, South Huron Council:
Received a presentation
o Bonnie Sitter provided a brief history of the Ontario Farmerettes. Council joined Mayor Finch in presenting Ms. Sitter with the South Huron Hometown Hero certificate for her work to document and share the story of Ontario Farmerettes.
Received delegations
o Matt Lensink presented on behalf of CEM Engineering regarding the proposed Goshen Line Project using biogas and natural gas to generate electricity during periods of peak power demand in the province
o Jimmy Trieu from Huron Health Systems spoke to council about Strengthening Physician Recruitment
Received staff reports/memos on topics including:
o Committee of Adjustment Appointment - Councillors Oke, Neeb, and McLeod-Haggitt were appointed as the 2026 members
o Costs Incurred for Professional Representation at Ontario Land Tribunal Cases Between 2018 to 2025
o Dashwood Fire Station Update - Spriet Associates Ltd. to proceed with Phases II and III, Preparation of tender documents, tendering and contact administration, and staff will bring back a Mutual Drain Agreement for Council consideration
o International Agri-food Worker - Welcoming Communities Project Updated - Community Event Survey Findings
o 2026 Updated User Fee Schedules - by-law to be brought back to December 15th Meeting for approval, with the updates to take effect January 1, 2026
o Stephen Arena – Occupancy Repair Work - follow-up
