January 12 Council Meeting Highlights

At its Regular Meeting on January 12, 2026, South Huron Council:

·         Received a presentation regarding the Huron Chamber of Commerce, presented by Colin Carmichael and Robin Glenny

·         Received delegations

o   South Huron Minor Hockey Association requesting extending ice service at the South Huron Recreation Centre presented by Mike McLellan

o   Consent Application C62-2025 presented by Andy Glavin

·         Received staff reports/memos on topics including:

o   Consent Application File C62-2025 (Runge/Glavin) - recommendation to Huron County that the application be denied, as it does not meet the criteria for a severance

o   Public Consultation Plan on Potentially Hosting a Gaming Site in South Huron – direction provided to proceed in implementing a public consultation plan on potentially hosting a gaming site in South Huron

o   2025 Year End Funds Transfers – authorized the Treasurer to make financial adjustments at year end regarding transfers to appropriate reserves

o   Cemetery Price List Update (Columbarium 4) – approved proposed amendments to price list and by-law to be brought back

o   Request for South Huron to provide Kirkton-Woodham Pool Operations for 2026 pool season - authorized staff to operate the Kirkton–Woodham Pool for the 2026 season only (unless extended by Council), pool expenses to be directly billed to/paid by South Huron, invoices for reimbursement be submitted to Perth South for their 50% share in pool net operating and capital costs
