July 13 Council Meeting Highlights
At its Regular Meeting on July 13, 2026, South Huron Council:
· Received delegations/presentations:
o Bruce Power - Bruce C Project update and the Bruce Power Regional Municipal Readiness Assessment Fund as presented by Maggie Tieman
· Received staff reports on topics including:
o Shared Services Agreement with Municipality of Bluewater for Building Services
o Annual Broader Public Sector (BPS) Energy Reporting for 2025
o Fire Service Ladder Agreement with Lambton Shores
o Tender Results for Grand Bend Line Watermain - Budget Amendment
§ accepted the tender from the low bidder Rapid Drainage Ltd. and authorized award of a contract for the Grand Bend Watermain Upgrade in the amount of $1,498,606.00 (including HST); and approved a Budget Amendment and authorized the transfer of $331,910.16 from the Water Capital Replacement Reserve to fund the additional tendered costs
o Tender Results for Thames Road West Forcemain - Budget Amendment
§ accepted the tender from the low bidder Rapid Drainage Ltd. and authorized award of a contract for the Thames Road West Forcemain in the amount of $304,602.57 (including HST); and approved a Budget Amendment and authorized the transfer of $73,843.25 from the Sewer Capital Replacement Reserve to fund the additional tendered costs; and that the additional $73,843.25 be included in the cost recovery by-law.
o Health and Safety and Personnel Policy Review
o Dog Park Survey Results
§ Council requested staff review the locations that were previously identified and brought forward and have the locations assessed by the Huron County Accessibility Committee and bring a report back to Council for consideration (to include ranking based on accessibility and updated costs)
o Build Communities Strong Fund
§ approved an application to the fund in support of a capital project to upgrade the SHRC arena floor
o 2026 Council Expenses as of June 30, 2026
o 2026 Capital Progress Report - June 2026
o Regional Municipal Readiness Assessment Fund
§ approved an application to the Regional Municipal Readiness Assessment Fund - Option #2 – Land Use and Infrastructure Readiness Study
