June 1 Council Meeting Highlights
At its Regular Meeting on June 1, 2026, South Huron Council:
· Received delegations/presentations:
o U16 Boys South Huron Sabres – OMHA Champions!
o Huron Shores Area Transit – 2025 Annual Report
· Received staff reports/memos on topics including:
o Tender Results for Construction of a New Fire Station in Dashwood – Budget Amendment
§ accepted the tender from the lowest bidder AUBI/Agri-Urban Building Inc. and authorized award of contract for the construction of a Fire Station at 177 Centre Street South, Dashwood in the amount of $3,664,768.00, excluding HST
§ approved an amendment to the Budget for the Dashwood Fire Station Replacement capital project in the amount of $618,441.90; and authorized the Budget amendment to be funded as follows: $335,000.00 from debenture and $283,441.90 from the Fire Capital Replacement Reserve.
o Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, 2025 Inspection Report for the South Huron Drinking Water System
o 2024-2025 Annual Closed Stephen Landfill Status Report
o Results of Annual DWQMS Management Review
o Tender Results for Huron Park Sewage Pumping Station Upgrades
§ accept the tender from the low bidder Finnbilt General Contracting Limited and authorize award of a contract for the Huron Park Sewage Pumping Station Upgrades in the amount of $4,159,383.33 (including HST)
o Results of 2026 Request for Proposals for Engineering Services
§ accepted the proposal received from B.M. Ross and Associates Limited and authorized the award of a professional services contract to B.M. Ross and Associates Limited for engineering services related to the following projects:
· a) Design, approvals, tendering, contract administration and inspection services for the Main Street South Reconstruction (Victoria Street to Sanders Street) in the amount of $166,165.00 plus HST.
· b) Design, approvals, and preparation of a tender for the Andrew Street Reconstruction (John Street to Sanders Street) in the amount of $32,624.00 plus HST, and future services for tendering, contract administration and site inspection in the amount of $47,067.00 plus HST, subject to Council approval of a future Budget.
· c) Design, approvals and preparation of a tender for Repairs to Kirkton Road Structure #1079 in the amount of $22,500.00 plus HST and future services for tendering, contract administration and site inspection in the amount of $24,500.00 plus HST, subject to Council approval of a future Budget.
· d) Design, approvals and preparation of a tender for Repairs to Airport Line Structure #1006 in the amount of $13,000.00 plus HST and future services for tendering, contract administration and site inspection in the amount of $15,000.00 plus HST, subject to Council approval of a future Budget.
· e) Design, approvals and preparation of a tender for the Replacement of the Exeter Water Tower Vertical Fill Pipe in the amount of $9,918.00 plus HST and future services for tendering, contract administration and site inspection in the amount of $12,089.00 plus HST, subject to Council approval of a future Budget.
· f) Design, approvals and preparation of a tender for South Road Watermain extension (Corbett line to Grand Bend Line) in the amount of $19,313.00 plus HST and future services for tendering, contract administration and site inspection in the amount of $41,424.00 plus HST, subject to Council approval of a future Budget
o Memorandum of Understanding – United Way Perth-Huron
§ approved the Memorandum of Understanding and the by-law being brought back for the required three readings
o Municipality - BIA Consultation and Engagement Procedure for the approved Connecting Link projects
§ endorsed the Procedure as the administrative framework for implementation
