June 2, 2025 Council Meeting Highlights

At its Regular Meeting on June 2, 2025, South Huron Council:

·         Received the following delegations:

o   Update on Huron County Library services in South Huron as presented by Beth Rumble and Tanis VanderMolen

§  highlighted details regarding the variety of programs that are made available through community partnerships

o   The importance of tissue and organ donation as presented by Robert Brown-Blake

·         Received the presentation by PSD Citywide’s Arun Sharma, regarding the Asset Management Plan

o   Offered explanations regarding the legislative requirements surrounding asset management planning and levels of service

o   Provided a financial outlook of municipal assets

·         Received staff reports on topics including:

o   Planning – Bill 17, Protect Ontario by Building Faster and Smarter Act, 2025 - Proposed Changes

o   Accepted the following grants received and approves related agreements:

§  SLED Funding (in the amount of $8,750)

§  AccessSLED (in the amount of $750)

§  International Agri-food Workers Welcoming Communities Initiative (in the amount of $23,848.87 for 2025 and 2026)

o   Scanning for Grant Funding Opportunities to Support Proposed Dashwood Fire Hall Replacement

o   Canada Day Weekend Celebrations – Special Event – approved Special Event Permit in principle and associated requests from the organizers (closure of Town Hall parking lot Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 9am to 3pm, exemption to Noise by-law  for June 27 and 28 from 11pm to 1am)
