May 4 Council Meeting Highlights

At its Regular Meeting on May 4, 2026, South Huron Council:

·         Received delegations/presentations:

o   United Way Perth Huron regarding a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as presented by Ryan Erb and Michelle Miller

§  Ryan provided Council an overview of the work done in the region by the United Way

o   Exeter BIA regarding the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association Construction Tool Kit as presented by Jayme Lamoureux

·         Received staff reports/memos on topics including:

o   Recommending to the County of Huron that the minor amendment to draft plan of subdivision file 40T22002 be approved, subject to the modified conditions attached to the Planner's April 23, 2026 Report

o   Bill 98, Building Homes and Improving Transportation Infrastructure Act, 2026 - Proposed Planning Changes

§  directed and authorized staff to provide comments through the ERO as outlined in the report

o   Building and Planning First Quarter Report for information

o   Fire Department Activity Update for information

o   Tender Results for London Road South Trunk Sanitary Sewer (Snider Crescent, Huron Street and Mary Street)

§  accepted the tender from the low bidder Omega Contractors Inc. and authorized award of a contract for the London Road South Trunk Sanitary Sewer (Snider Crescent, Huron Street and Mary Street) in the amount of $3,924,912.29 (including HST)

o   Highway #21 and County Road #83 Intersection Improvements

§  confirmed that if the Highway #21 & County Road #83 Intersection Improvement project is approved, the Municipality of South Huron shall agree to close the existing Gore Road connection to County Road #83 and assume the road allowance and related road infrastructure of the new cul-de-sac at the west end of the closed section of Gore Road, subject to an acceptable agreement; and assume the road allowance and related road infrastructure of the re-aligned Gore Road connection to County Road #83, subject to an acceptable agreement

o   2025 Annual Development Charges, for information

o   Planning Act Fees (Section 42); and allocated $100,000 from the Parkland Reserve Fund towards the Huron Park Subdivision Community Park

o   2025 Fourth Quarter Operating Budget Variance Report, for information

o   Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) Annual Update, for information
