Main Street South Reconstruction Project-Weekly Update May 1, 2026

This week the contractor completed the underground infrastructure work (sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and watermain) in the intersection of Main and Church Street; and has repaved the intersection. The temporary watermain was placed in service and customers have been switched over to the temporary watermain. Main Street will be reopened to traffic at 5:00pm today, utilizing the intown detour on Church and William Street for southbound traffic.  When the road is re-opened, Main Street within the construction zone, will be open to one-way traffic northbound only.

Next week the contractor will continue sanitary sewer and storm sewer work on the west side of Main Street heading south. Please note that the detour on Church and William Street will remain in place until all construction work, including restoration, is complete on the west side of Main Street. The sidewalk on the east side of Main Street and east side of the bridge, will remain open during this phase of the project. Businesses remain open during construction; access to homes and businesses will be reasonably maintained throughout construction.

With traffic disrupted and detours in place, please expect delays and plan accordingly.
