2026 Municipal & School Board Elections
Notice is hereby given to all Municipal Electors in the Municipality of South Huron
This notice is for anyone proposing to be a Candidate in the 2026 municipal and school board elections on October 26, 2026. Nominations for the positions listed below must be filed on the prescribed form available either in person or by your agent, with the Returning Officer during normal office hours between the first business day of May in 2026 to Thursday, August 20, 2026, and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day). Please make an appointment with the Returning Officer to file your nomination.
Each proposed candidate must file the prescribed declaration form signed by at least 25 persons (School Board candidates are exempt). The individuals providing signatures must sign a declaration stating they are eligible to vote in the municipality on the day they signed the endorsement.
The required filing fee for the Head of Council is $200.00 and all other offices are $100.00 (cash, debit, certified cheque or money order made payable to the Municipality of South Huron. A nomination must be certified by the Clerk before such person becomes a certified candidate for the office to which they are nominated. Candidates must not spend or raise any funds for their election campaign until the registration/nomination form has been filed.

Mayor – one (1) to be elected at large
Deputy Mayor - one (1) to be elected at large
Councillor, Ward 1 (Stephen) – two (2) to be elected by Ward 1 electors
Councillor, Ward 2 (Exeter) – two (2) to be elected by Ward 2 electors
Councillor, Ward 3 (Usborne) – one (1) to be elected by Ward 3 electors
School Board Trustees
English Public - Avon Maitland District School Board – one (1) to be elected
