October 6, 2025 Council Meeting Highlights

At its Regular Meeting on October 6, 2025, South Huron Council:

·         Presentation

o   The Youth Bluewater Tug Of War Team received a Mayor's Certificate of Congratulations. From Dashwood, ON they are the first team to represent not only Canada but all of North America at the GENSB International Tug-of-War tournament in the Netherlands! Of the 35 teams in the tournament, these champions finished 12th overall!

·         Received delegations:

o   Stacey Jeffery, Community Relations Manager, was joined by youth participant Karsyn to present details about the recent Youth Tourism Experience Day

o   Mike Ondrejika requested an exemption from the conditions of Consent Application C23-2025

·         Received staff reports/memos on topics including:

o   Consent Application File C23-2025 (Ondrejicka)

§   Council recommend to the County of Huron that the application C23-2025 be approved subject to the amended conditions

o   Removal of Holding Symbol Application SHu Z06-2025(Palen)

o   Surety Bond Policy Update

o   Annual Pool Programing Results (2025)

§  Council commended staff on the progress of programming and the lasting impact on the community

§  Council accepted amendments to the User Fee By-Law as of January 1, 2026 to include the following:

·         1. Jr Lifeguard Club in the amount of $95.00 + HST;

·         2. Masters Swim Team in the amount of $70.00 + HST;

·         3. Private Lessons (Children Under 14) – 2 Children in the amount of $170.00 + HST;

·         4. Private Lessons (Children Under 14) – 3 Children in the amount of $225.00 + HST

o   Municipal Modernization Strategy Update

§  Council received a report outlining recent work to modernize municipal operations that make them more efficient, enhance services, and that identify and address cybersecurity risks

o   Application to Repeal Heritage Designation By-Law #23-1993

§  Council authorized the Clerk to issue a Notice of Application received to Repeal By-Law #23-1993 for 12 Victoria Avenue East, Crediton, in accordance with s.32(1) (repeal of designating by-law, owner’s initiative) of the Ontario Heritage Act.

o   Procedural By-Law Review

§  Council will proceed with the review of the Procedural By-Law and proposed timeline as set out in the report, and selected Councillor Neeb and Councillor McCleod-Haggitt as the Council representatives to participate in this review.

o   2023-2026 Council Priorities – Q3 2025 Workplan
