Province of Ontario Funding Announcement

GREAT news courtesy of the Province of Ontario as Minister of Rural Affairs Lisa Thompson stopped by South Huron Town Hall to make a funding announcement.
The Municipality of South Huron has received a grant of up to $4,240,052 to support upgrades to the Exeter Sewage Lagoon as part of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program - Health and Safety Water Stream. This project, with a total estimated cost of $5,808,291 will see the following work performed:
  • Sand Filter Upgrades – Phase 1
  • Sand Filter Upgrades – Phase 2
  • Sewage Lagoon UV Disinfection System
  • Sewage Lagoon Blower Building Upgrades
  • William Street SPS Force Main connection to lagoons
The balance of this project will be funded from South Huron’s Sewer Capital Replacement Reserve or external borrowing (if required).
As well, Minister Thompson recognized the $32,000 South Huron received as part of a project to purchase and install an equipment decontamination washer to serve both South Huron fire stations (Exeter and Dashwood). Proper decontamination of bunker gear is vital to cancer prevention, ensuring the health and safety of firefighters. Onsite decontamination also returns equipment to service condition quicker.
