Exeter, ON – On Friday, Mayor Finch welcomed local MPP Lisa Thompson at the Mayor’s Community Breakfast and spoke to the impact that a $150,000 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) has had in the community.

"Strong communities are realized when people can come together and stay active, and investments like this strengthen our communities by ensuring that local residents have that opportunity, and that they have access to safe and modern recreational spaces," said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. "This investment will help maintain the South Huron Recreational Centre as a vibrant hub for residents of all ages, and I commend the local leaders and volunteers whose efforts made this support possible for the South Huron region."

Funds from the OTF grant, which was awarded in 2022, were used to address the need for repairs to the centre’s roof to help extend the life of a vital community hub. These repairs will ensure that the South Huron Recreation Centre remains a safe and accessible gathering space for years to come.

“This grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation has allowed us to make critical repairs that will benefit residents of all ages,” said Mayor George Finch. “The South Huron Recreation Centre is a cornerstone of our community, and this support will see it continue for future generations.”

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested nearly $105M into 732 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.
