September 8 Council Meeting Highlights

At its Regular Meeting on September 8, 2026, South Huron Council:

·         Received delegations/presentations:

o   South Huron Fire Department Years of Service Awards were presented to firefighters Aaron Datars for 20 years and Cpt. Doug Smith for 30 years.

·         Received staff reports on topics including:

o   Building and Planning Second Quarter

o   Motor Grader Repairs - Special Circumstance Purchase Summary

o   2026 Election Compliance Audit Committee for 2026-2030 Council Term. Council authorized the Clerk to proceed with the establishment of a Compliance Audit Committee for the 2026 Municipal Election in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. The required By-Law to establish the Election Compliance Audit Committee and adopt the Terms of Reference will be brought back for the required three readings

o   Municipal Election 2026 Restricted Acts of Council (Lame Duck period) – Update

o   Transfer of municipal lands to Jessica’s House. The Municipality entered into agreements to hold lands for the development of a hospice to be known as “Jessica’s House” in 2017. Jessica’s House Hospice Board is requesting the lands where the hospice is located be transferred to them. Council authorized the costs to complete the transfer of the property to Jessica’s House as an in-kind donation; and the Mayor and Clerk are authorized to execute any documents necessary to complete the transfer of the lands legally described as known as Parts 2, 3 and 4 Plan 22R6530, Municipality of South Huron
