South Huron encourages customers to voluntarily conserve water on August 11th and 12th, 2026

Lake Huron Primary Water Supply System has advised a temporary shutdown of their water service to member municipalities is necessary to complete watermain repairs. This work is scheduled to start at midnight on Tuesday, August 11^th and is expected to be completed the same day.

South Huron’s water system is designed with ample storage to continue providing regular water service to all our customers during temporary shutdowns of this nature, which are routine. However, as a reasonable risk mitigation measure, the Municipality of South Huron encourages our customers to voluntarily conserve water use on Tuesday, August 11^th until noon on August 12^th to allow the municipal system time to recharge after Lake Huron Primary Water Supply System service is restored to normal.

Examples of conserving water include postponing activities like:

• Filling backyard pools
• Watering lawns
• Washing cars/trucks

The purpose of conservation is to maximize available municipal water reserves in case of an unexpected and prolonged maintenance period or an emergency such as multiple large fires.
