New sanitary sewer project will unlock the potential for an additional 2,100 homes at the south end of Exeter
South Huron successful in receiving over $5.3M in Housing-Enabling Water Systems Funding
The Ontario government is investing $39,448,926 in water infrastructure to help build approximately 4,974 new homes in 5 Huron-Bruce municipalities. The funding is being delivered through the province’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), a stream of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP).
Following an application in 2024, South Huron is eligible to receive up to $5,367,325.00 to support the construction of a trunk sanitary sewer from Mary and Waterloo streets to the Snider Crescent Sewage Pumping Station. When completed, this infrastructure project is estimated to enable the servicing of an additional 2,100 homes at the south end of Exeter on either side of Highway 4.
“South Huron is positioned for growth and I want to thank the Province of Ontario for investing with us to enable more homes for our community,” said Mayor George Finch. “Our team is dedicated to growing the prosperity of our entire municipality, and we are ready to work with like-minded stakeholders to this end.”
