Speed Reduction in South Huron Urban Areas

Speed Reduction in South Huron Urban Areas on Municipal Roads
Please be aware of the new 40km/hr speed limit on municipal roads in South Huron urban areas to improve community safety.
The new 40km/hr speed signs are being put up this week, and once installed, that becomes the legal limit.
There are some exceptions to this new limit, including:
* Huron Street East, heading towards Morrison Line, is 50km/hr
* Goshen Line, 400 metres north of Crediton Road, is 60km/hr
* Huron Street West, from Main Street to William Street, is 20km/hr (hospital zone)
* Community Safety Zones are set at 30km/hr, and include:
- Sanders Street West, from Carling Street to Marlborough Street
- Senior Street, from Gidley Street to Sanders Street East
- Gidley Street, from Andrew Street to Senior Street
- Victoria Street, from Andrew Street to Dead End
- MacNaughton Drive, from Main Street to Dead End
- Andrew Street, from MacNaughton Drive to Hill Street
Also, note there are no speed changes to roads under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transportation (Main Street, Exeter) or County of Huron roads (Thames Road in Exeter; Dashwood Main Street; Victoria Avenue in Crediton; Airport Line between Huron Park Road and Algonquin Drive; Crediton Road in Shipka; Mount Carmel Drive in Mount Carmel; Center Street in Dashwood).
For details on this community safety initiative, please see By-law 52-2025 a Bylaw to Prescribe a Rate of Speed for Motor Vehicles Driven within Settlement Areas in the Municipality of South Huron.
