South Huron Recreation Centre (SHRC)
The South Huron Recreation Centre/Exeter Arena is located at 94 Victoria Street East, Exeter. The South Huron Recreation Centre, built in 1976, is home to a multi-purpose community hall with full-service kitchen, 195’ by 85’ ice surface, five dressing rooms, a warm room and seating for 1200 people.

After nearly 4 months of construction, we are excited to welcome you back to the South Huron Recreation Centre (SHRC) on Monday September 19th for ice usage.

Navigating the facility
|
It is important to note that although the SHRC will reopen on September 19th, there may be construction activities ongoing within the facility as contractors work on outstanding items and the next components of the project. Please follow posted signage at the facility to ensure the safety of both patrons and workers.

Temporary Entrance
|
Patrons are to use the east entrance only to enter and exit the facility. Signage will be posted at the facility to direct patrons to the east side of the building. The west entrance is temporarily closed and usage is not permitted at any time.

Parking
|
Parking is available on the east and north side of the facility, with limited parking on the west due to the temporary construction area. There is currently one designated accessible parking space at the east side of the facility, adjacent to the temporary entrance. Outside of daytime Monday to Friday, overflow parking may be available along Victoria Street East.

Ice Usage
|
Ice usage will resume on Monday September 19, 2022
|
Press Box access
|
Access to the press box will be through the existing office space and limited to authorized personnel only (Hawks and SHMH). No visitors will be permitted to stand in the area below the press box as this is deemed a construction area.

Trophy Display and Information Boards
|
We will be working with all groups over the next few months to identify a coordinated plan moving forward for the display of trophies and information boards in the facility. Stay tuned!

Hall Rentals
|
It is anticipated that the hall and kitchen will reopen for rentals to the public on November 1, 2022.
|
Construction of Zone 2 (new dressing room addition)
|
Work related to the construction of the new dressing room addition will continue into the fall of 2022. The temporary construction area on the west side of the SHRC will remain in place until project completion. There will be no impact to ice users inside the facility during this period.

Stephen Arena
Captial upgrades at Stephen Arena are now completed and the facility is back open! For more information visit the Recreation Renewal Projects Page.
The Stephen Arena is located at 69625 Airport Line, Huron Park. The Stephen Arena was built in 1963.The front of the building was retrofitted in 2000, with a new lobby, six new dressing rooms, food service outlet and storage areas. This area also provides a convenient warm spectator viewing area of the ice surface. The ice surface measures 179' x 79'.

Ice Fees
Ice rates are based on a one hour rental, including a 10 minute flood period.
