Procedural By-Law Review (2025)

Overview

We are reviewing our Procedural By-Law. This By-Law outlines the rules for calling meetings (notice requirements, date, time and location), the conduct of members, public participation, voting procedures, and how the Municipality communicates the meeting information to the public.

The review is being completed in a phased approach to include consultation from members of Council, staff, colleagues from surrounding municipalities, and to obtain feedback from members of the public.

Please note that comments and opinions submitted on these matters, including the originator’s name and address, became part of the public record and may be viewed by the general public and may be published in a Report, Council Agenda or Council Minutes.

Project Approval

Section 238 of the Municipal Act requires that every municipality in Ontario must have a Procedural By-Law. The By-Law is generally reviewed once per Council term for any efficiencies, modernization, accountability and legislative updates.
