Our Community Services Department is seeking to fill the newly created contract role of Recreation Coordinator. The position is offered on a one-year contract basis. Under the direction of the Manager of Community Services, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for planning, promoting, and delivering recreation programs across municipal facilities, parks, and other community spaces. You will ensure programs meet the diverse needs of South Huron residents while achieving the goals and objectives outlined in the Ontario Trillium Seed Grant Application. While in this role you will oversee programing at municipal facilities and locations. The Coordinator is also responsible for increasing facility utilization by identifying schedule gaps and actively promoting rental opportunities while promoting participation in programs.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional that has the following:
- Post Secondary Diploma in Recreation and Leisure, Sport Management, Community Engagement or equivalent education.
- Experience with program planning and delivery
- High Five Principles of Health Child Development or a willingness to obtain prior to employment
- Certified in Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED Level C
- National Lifeguard Certification is a requirement, other designated pool certifications are considered an asset
- Ability to maintain a valid Drivers G License with clean drivers abstract.
- Effective inter-personal, management and written and oral communication skills
- Strong organization skills to effectively complete/deliver and prioritize assigned tasks and responsibilities within the department and outlines in the grant application
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS

Working Conditions
Work occurs in an outdoor environment with a high degree of public contact, as well as exposure to highly sensitive and confidential issues, which may be of a personal nature. Regular lifting, carrying and management of supplies for the practice of lifesaving techniques. Occasional lifting and carrying will occur in this position. A flexible schedule is required as some work will take place outside core hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
